Throwback Thursday – Main Street U.S.A. Transportation
All of the vehicles found on Main Street were designed to reflect turn-of-the century vehicles. There is the horse-drawn streetcar/trolley (pictured from 1978), double decker bus, an automobile and a fire engine. This horse-drawn trolley, which is pulled by Belgian or Percheron horses, will pick you up in Town Square and take you to the end of Main Street at Cinderella Castle. These beautiful horses are kept at the Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch. These vehicles usually operate only in the early park hours before Main Street gets busy with people. Right now this form of transportation is temporarily suspended. I am hoping that this will re-open soon, especially with the 50th Anniversary right around the corner.
I always suggest to people who are visiting for the first time that they walk down Main Street U.S.A. to be able to take it all in. But, for those seasoned Disney World travelers, or your 2nd day when you’re tired, I suggest giving these Disney transportation vehicles a try. They are a unique experience that you will never forget.
