Monday’s Disneyland Fun Facts
Let’s take a 7-minute journey through the Storybook Land Canal Boats. This charming boat ride was something that Walt Disney had always desired. As you wind your way on these “boats” or bateaux, (which is a low sitting boat that you would see in Northern Europe on the canals and rivers), enjoy the scenery and stories that you surround you.
When this ride first opened in 1956 it held detailed displays of Geppetto’s Village and Toy Shop from Pinocchio, Captain Hook’s Pirate Ship from Peter Pan, the Cinderella Castle and many more villages from a variety of stories. In 1994 during a renovation, new scenes were added which included Aladdin and The Little Mermaid.
The boats are battery-powered and run along a track that is submerged in 465,000 gallons of water. The Canal Captains also have the fun of delivering narratives similar to when you’re riding the Jungle Cruise. Must be fun to be a Canal Boat captain and to see what all the people in the villages are up to on each cruise.
Did you know that there are also 15 Canal Boats and all of them have different names?
- Alice
- Ariel
- Aurora
- Belle
- Cinderella
- Daisy
- Faline
- Fauna
- Flora
- Flower
- Katrina

The next time you ride the Storybook Land Canal Boats, see how many of the different boats you can spot. If you are ready to make your next canal journey, let me know how I can help you get there.
