Epcot Construction Update

Post by MickeyMouse71   /

I remember coming to Epcot for the first time in 1990. When my parents brought us to Disney World for the first time in the late 70’s only Magic Kingdom was here. So imagine my surprise to see Epcot and MGM (now Hollywood Studios) when I arrived in 1990. Epcot had this amazing feel to it, something I just can’t describe. But there is a smell, sound and look to Epcot that is still there. As excited as I am to see the transformation that Epcot is going through, I’m going to miss all of the old things that I remember and that have been a part of all my visits since 1990. Here is to new beginnings. Walt said this about Disneyland but I think it applies to all Disney parks and Disney expansions. “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world” – Walt Disney

A different view of the Epcot ball as you’re walking into the park.

This view is as you’re walking up to the monorail and looking back towards the parking lots.

They are doing so much work at the entrance and I know that when it is finally finished we will all be amazed at how beautiful it looks, it just takes a long time to get to that point.

This picture is as the monorail is coming back to Epcot from the Ticket & Transportation Center.

You can still picture how it used to look and how much work they have already done to remove the cement and road.

I miss seeing the beautiful flowers as you enter through the gates. Hopefully soon they will bring down those walls so that we can enjoy the entrance again.

I’ guessing it will be a while before these wall come down.

This expanded walkway is amazing and I love how much more room there is, especially during the Food & Wine Festival. This pathway was so narrow and was difficult to get to the kiosks and now it is so enjoyable to walk that way.

This view is from the monorail as it is coming into the station after circling Epcot.

Walking down the ramp after leaving the monorail to head into Epcot. The cement is starting to be put down. It is exciting to watch as the changes are happening.

So many changes throughout all of the parks, but I enjoy trying to keep everyone up to date on what is happening. Comment what you are most looking forward too with the changes at Epcot.

“Leadership means that a group, large or small, is willing to entrust authority to a person who has shown judgment, wisdom, personal appeal, and proven competence” – Walt Disney
